Abstract

This work is an in-depth look at one of the dimensions covered in a doctoral thesis, carried out under the Postgraduate Program in Education at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), developed between 2017 and 2023. For this production, we initially highlight some ideas about school time, addressing aspects related to its conception and the way in which Brazilian educational legislation addresses the issue. From this context, we define the aim of the article, which is to highlight the experience of Campinas - SP in the organization of its school time in its experience of implementing comprehensive education. The methodology used was a bibliographical review of the subject, especially documentary analysis of official records published by the municipality. As a preliminary result, we highlight the power of the re-signification of school time that has taken place in the municipality, which by seeking to qualify the time of the student's day, the time of the teacher's working day and the time and form of organization of the school curriculum, can contribute to the realization of a truly integral and democratic education.
