Abstract

This article, the result of ongoing research, aims to problematize public Early Childhood Education in its
interface with the State in the Western context, considering that the imperative of neoliberal reason subjectively
guides all spheres that make up the capitalist world, that is, also public Early Childhood Education with all the
children that permeate it, the adults that surround them, as well as the political society responsible for offering
this right and social (public) policy. The study is of a qualitative nature, constituting part of a documentary
research within the scope of the academic master's degree, methodologically guided by the criteria of
bibliographic review. The results corroborate the axiom that neoliberal rationality treats public Early Childhood
Education as a commodity, in view of the four pillars evidenced in the business counter: privatization, the
technocracy of austerity, the production of neoliberal subjects and the feeling of unnecessary public service.

Laís dos Santos Lopes, Universidade Estadual de Feira de Santana (UEFS)

Master's student in the Postgraduate Program in Education (PPGE) and Pedagogy, both from the State University of Feira de Santana (UEFS). Member of the Center for Studies and Research on Teacher Training (NUFOP). Scholarship holder from the Bahia State Research Support Foundation (FAPESB). Neuropedagogue from the Gastão Guimarães Postgraduate Center (NPGGG). She was Pedagogical Coordinator of the Early Childhood Education stage in the city of São Gonçalo dos Campos, Bahia. She was a group 4 teacher at the Catavento daycare-school in Feira de Santana, Bahia. She was a resident at the Basic Education Center (CEB) of UEFS through the Pedagogical Residency Program. She has teaching, professional and research experience in the areas of: Pedagogical Coordination in Early Childhood Education, Teaching in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Literacy, Law and Social (Public) Policy in Early Childhood Education. Possui graduação em Licenciatura em Pedagogia pela Universidade Católica do Salvador (1977), Mestrado em Educação (Currículo) pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (1989) e Doutorado em Educação (Currículo) pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (2003). Atualmente é professora Plena da Universidade Estadual de Feira de Santana. Professora do Mestrado em Educação da UEFS/BA. Tem experiência na área de Educação, com ênfase em Administração de Unidades Educativas, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: prática pedagógica, escola básica, formação de professor, políticas públicas, tecnologias e educação básica.
