UM FAUSTO BRASILEIRO? UMA ANÁLISE INTERTEXTUAL DE VALSA PARA BRUNO STEIN

Resumo

Este artigo consiste numa análise crítica intertextual do romance Valsa para Bruno Stein (1986), do escritor gaúcho Charles Kiefer, cuja narrativa apresenta desde o início diversas citações do livro Fausto (1808), do escritor alemão Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. O objetivo deste trabalho foi procurar compreender o efeito de sentido dessas citações, que podem ser consideradas pistas para outras interpretações possíveis, certamente diferentes daquelas que ignoram os elementos intertextuais recorrentes no texto. Considerando as referências à obra de Goethe como um importante elemento intertextual deslocado, analisou-se qual a relação existente entre ambas as narrativas, que significados as citações de Fausto produzem no romance em questão e se estas ratificam ou subvertem a narrativa goethiana.

A BRAZILIAN FAUST? AN INTERTEXTUAL ANALYSIS OF VALSA PARA BRUNO STEIN

This paper is an intertextual analysis of the Brazilian book Valsa para Bruno Stein (1986), written by the Gaucho author Charles Kiefer, which narrative presents, since the beginning, many quotations from the book Faust (1808), written by the German author Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The aim of this work is to comprehend the meaning of these quotations in this context, which can be considered like clues to other possible interpretations, certainly different from that ones that ignore these intertextual elements. Considering these references to Faust as an important intertextual dislocated element, it was analyzed what was the relationship between both narratives, which meanings were produced by these quotations in the Brazilian book and if these quotations confirm or subvert the Goethean narrative.
