A CONTRIBUIÇÃO DO INSTITUTO NACIONAL DE ESTUDOS E PESQUISA DA GUINÉ-BISSAU PARA A SUSTENTABILIDADE CIENTIFICA E O DESENVOLVIMENTO

Resumo

Ao contrário do que tem acontecido noutras partes do mundo, na Guiné-Bissau as instituições com vocação para a investigação científica antecederam a implantação das instituições de formação superior por excelência no caso concreto as Universidades, em cerca de duas décadas. Criado em 1984 com o objetivo de promover e coordenar as atividades de investigação científica no domínio das ciências sociais e naturais, o INEP, ciente da forte ligação entre a pesquisa e o desenvolvimento, e do fato de que a maior força de qualquer país não reside nas suas riquezas naturais, mas nos seus recursos humanos, tem lutado desde a primeira hora, com enormes sacrifícios na busca da capacitação cientifica e tecnológica do país entendido como uma das condições estratégicas para o seu processo de desenvolvimento. O Instituto brilhou pela criação e divulgação de conhecimento; Engajou-se firmemente tanto na pesquisa fundamental como na aplicada; transformando-se num ator chave para o processo de desenvolvimento da Guiné-Bissau, atuando como um banco de conhecimento e a principal entidade de consulta para o país inteiro, sustentando as suas políticas e programas de desenvolvimento.

Contrary to what has happened in other parts of the world, in Guinea-Bissau the institutions with vocation to scientific investigation preceded the establishment of superior formation institutions, the Universities, in around two decades. Created in 1984 with the aim of promoting and coordinating the activities of scientific investigation in the domain of natural and social sciences, the INEP has struggled since the beginning for scientific and technological capability – one of the strategic conditions to the country development process. INEP is well aware of the strong link between research and development, and of the fact that the greatest strength of any country does not reside on its natural, but on its human resources. The Institute stood out for the creation and the spreading out of knowledge. It firmly engaged itself on the fundamental and on applied research, becoming a key factor in the process of development in Guinea-Bissau. It has acted as a knowledge bank and the main reference entity for the whole country, supporting its developmental policies and programs.
