MEMÓRIA E IMAGENS NACIONAIS EM CARTAS DE IMIGRANTES ALEMÃES EM SANTA CATARINA

Resumo

Este artigo tem como objetivo a análise de quatro cartas de imigrantes alemães estabelecidos no estado Santa Catarina em meados do século XIX. Estas são destinadas aos parentes que ficaram na Alemanha e trazem em seus conteúdos notícias do novo cotidiano. À luz de reflexões sobre a memória, sinalizo nessas correspondências o trânsito entre tempos e
espaços sobrepostos (presente e passado / pessoal e coletivo) para pensar sobre os signos culturais que fomentam a comunidade étnica alemã em Santa Catarina. Privilegiando uma abordagem centrada nos movimentos subjetivos da memória no momento da escrita, procuro entender essa prática pessoal dentro de um processo coletivo impregnado de significações
culturais.

MEMORY AND NATIONAL IMAGES IN THE LETTERS OF GERMAN IMMIGRANTS IN SANTA CATARINA

This article aims at analyzing four letters of German immigrants established in Santa Catarina State in the mid-nineteenth century. These are designed to relatives who remained in Germany and brought in their news content of the new routine. Reflecting on the memory, I indicate these links between the transit time and space overlapping (present and
past / personal and collective) to think about the cultural signs that fuel the ethnic German community in Santa Catarina. Preferring an approach based on the movements of subjective memory at the time of writing, I try to understand this practice personal within a collective process imbued with cultural meanings.
